Youtuber sentenced to 8 years over ‘military fakes'
YouTube blogger Kamikadze D (Dmitry Ivanov) was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison over charges related to “disinformation”. The prosecutor requested this sentence for Ivanov and also proposed banning him from administering online pages for four years after his release.
In 2017, the blogger left Russia after one of his videos was investigated for alleged incitement to suicide. In 2022, the Ministry of Justice added Kamikadze D to the registry of “foreign agents,” claiming that he was involved in “political activities” and received money from Ukraine. A criminal case was opened against the blogger in September 2022 due to two videos that criticized the current invasion and Russian Government. The videos that led to the case against Ivanov are currently unavailable.
