The first administrative case in Russia has been initiated because of the repost of the "Meduza"
It is against the St. Petersburg journalist Valery Nechay.
This information was reported by "Perviy Otdel" ("First Department"). The administrative case regarding involvement in the activities of an "undesirable" organization was initiated based on materials from the Prosecutor's Office, which also filed the case. Nechay himself is currently unaware of the specific posts that led to the case being filed against him. Previously, the journalist served as the editor-in-chief of "Echo of St. Petersburg."
"Meduza" was declared an "undesirable" organization in late January. The Prosecutor General's Office explained this decision by stating that the outlet's activities in Russia pose a threat to national security. The dissemination of materials from an "undesirable" organization can result in fines, while repeated violations or involvement in its activities can lead to criminal charges.
Note: "Meduza" is a Russian news outlet.
