Politician Sentenced to 8.5 Years in Prison for Military "Fake News"
The Gagarinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced politician Leonid Gozman in absentia to 8.5 years in prison for spreading "fake news" about the Russian army motivated by hatred.
The reason for the prosecution was Gozman's posts on Facebook and Telegram. In February, he was arrested in absentia, and at that time, the court's press service reported that the man was accused under the first part of the article on "fake news." In April 2024, Gozman's criminal case was submitted to the court.
Leonid Gozman is a Russian public and political figure. Since 2014, he has systematically opposed the actions of the Russian authorities towards Ukraine. In the spring of 2022, the Ministry of Justice included the politician in the register of media "foreign agents."
