German Spiegel published the first interview with Arkady Volozh, a co-founder of one the biggest and most successful Russian IT companies called Yandex.  
"I always believed that this war should never have started. It is barbarism, and Ukraine is paying a terrible price for it." -  said Volozh. According to Volozh, the war in Ukraine "marks the end of an era in Russia," during which the country had the opportunity to take a different path and “build a different, better, and modern Russia…".  Volozh believes that the only chance to create long-lasting changes in Russia's liberal democracy, and Yandex, according to him, was built on the same principles.
 Volozh fell under EU sanctions in June 2022 and first condemned the war in Ukraine in August 2023.
Recently, the separation of the Russian and international parts of Yandex was officially completed.
