The Voronezh Regional Court sentenced resident Alexander Dmitrenko to 23 years in prison, finding him guilty of treason, preparing for sabotage, and illegal possession of explosives.
Earlier, the prosecution requested 21 years of strict regime colony for Dmitrenko, with the first four years to be served in prison. The man did not admit his guilt. In letters, he detailed torture and methods of fabricating cases by FSB officers.
Dmitrenko was detained on May 28, 2022. During the search, law enforcement allegedly found explosives in boxes from Ukrainian juice and a Ukrainian passport in his house, but Dmitrenko himself claimed that it was all planted on him. The case defendant talked about torture, including having a bag put over his head and being threatened with a stun gun to give the necessary testimony to the authorities. During one period, he was taken from the pre-trial detention center to the investigative department for questioning, where he was beaten again.
