A 15-year-old schoolgirl from Murmansk was detained for wearing a badge with the colors of the Ukrainian flag
A year ago, her father died in the conflict zone.
Yesterday, in broad daylight, officers of the Murmansk police stopped a 15-year-old girl, identified as A., who is an 8th-grade student at a local gymnasium. She had a badge with the colors of the Ukrainian flag hanging on her backpack. The law enforcement officers initially intended to draw up a protocol against her for displaying prohibited symbols. However, they changed their decision after listening to the girl's explanation.
She explained that she is the daughter of Chief Petty Officer Alexey Ostashov, a native of Komi, who served in the 200th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Murmansk region on a contract basis. Her father died a year ago from shrapnel wounds as a result of artillery shelling in the area of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
The girl told the police officers that she made the badge herself due to her personal feelings and the grief over her father's death. She clarified that she does not express support for Ukraine but wants to demonstrate her personal anti-war stance. Eventually, the girl was released.
